New Automation Tool - TypeTask

Hello QA and automation users,

A new automation tool is available!  It's called "TypeTask," and it follows in the steps of the popular TinyTask (recording automation) and TimerTask (scheduling automation).  This software will automate your keyboard, and is a huge productivity enhancement!

TypeTask can help everybody:  Use it to automatically type long phrases, run & control programs, and even perform full multi-step automation scripts.  It works silently in the background, and can automate any program.  Check out the listing on the

Feel free to post some of your most helpful TypeTask mappings!

Here's a good one when writing web pages.  It surrounds any selection with a web link template, making link creation quick and easy.  Of course, the advantage of TypeTask is that this works in any program, even Notepad.

Similar shortcuts could be used for other tags like italic, bold, and fonts.

Here's a good one to automate your vTask Studio Forum login:

~f=cappy{tab}password{enter}


In fact, this works great for any login where there are 2 edit fields for username+password (like as email logins, forums, and websites).  You start by entering the "~f" (or whatever signal you want) in the username field.  The {Tab} key will jump to the second edit box, and then type the password. 

* Tip:  This is meant for not-so-important logins, like your "Woodworking Group Talk" login, or your cat's Facebook account.  If you prefer not to have the whole password stored for better security, just leave out the last letter or two of the password, and also leave out the {Enter} in the entry listed above.  Then, after the login is automated by TypeTask, complete the password by pressing the final (secret) letter.

An update for this program is now available.  Version 1.10 can be downloaded at this link: 
typertask.exe


The name has been changed to "TyperTask" to avoid trademark conflicts.  Also, for version 1.10, a new feature has been added to the "Options" menu that allows font selection.

Don't forget, it is now possible to
donate
 any small amount to help support the development of this useful automation tool.  Thanks!

An update for this utility is now available.  Version 1.12 can be downloaded at this link: 
typertask.exe


Changes include:

    * A new feature:  "Remove Clipboard Formatting".  This will convert the clipboard to text format, and strip any fonts, colors, links, etc.  This is a useful feature that is frequently needed when copying text from the web and pasting into documents.  It is available in other free utilities, and now TyperTask also includes it via a quick click in the popup menu.  To keep it quick, no additional prompts are shown after the clipboard is unformatted.

    * A new display for total trigger count, located under the "Options" menu:

    * A few minor improvements and additional help file text.


Hopefully TyperTask is able to improve your productivity.  Remember that TyperTask is worked on during spare time, and vTask tech support is not able to answer questions about it.  Enjoy the free tool!
