Note: This is a forum for the vTask product, not other software.  However, many of our customers use the TinyTask utility, and this is a good place to demonstrate the new features.  TinyTask shares the same recording engine as vTask Studio, and is often used to confirm vTask functionality.

TinyTask drives a lot of traffic to the website, thanks to its popularity and ease of use.  ("Free" probably helps too.)  Due to its popularity, some effort was recently invested in this helpful utility.  Many recording fixes are included, and important new features such as compiling were added.  Be sure to check out all the free tools on

NEW FEATURES:

    * New Feature:  The ability to Compile EXE programs.  This lets you turn your recordings into standalone programs.
    * New Feature:  Added Set Repeat Count feature.  This allows you to loop a playback a certain number of times.
    * New Feature:  Command line can contain recording files, such as "tinytask recording.rec"
    * New Feature:  New web links to the vTask Studio website
    * New Feature:  Additional help descriptions
    * New Feature:  Hovering over toolbar icons will show a description of the commands (can be disabled by pressing Escape, or unchecking "Show Tips")
    * New Feature:  Added "TinyTask on the Web" quick link to menu
    * New Feature:  New keypress shortcuts: for example, <F5> to run playback, 'O' to Open
    * New Feature:  Repeating playbacks are displayed in the caption title
    * New Feature:  No libraries required -- still only 29k in size!!

FIXES:

    * Fix:  "Save File" will prompt before overwriting existing files
    * Fix:  Extra sanity checks while loading recording files
    * Fix:  Certain punctuation keys were not saved correctly with the Recording command
    * Fix:  Recording speed increased when using Hardware method + Fast mode
    * Fix:  Enhanced accuracy for stopping a Recording during mid-payback
    * Fix:  Recordings were incorrectly resetting the Num Lock key during playback
    * Fix:  Initial (pre-recording) toggle key states were not correctly saved

* "Compile EXE Program" -- lets you turn your recordings into standalone programs.  No other programs are needed to run the recording (not even TinyTask).  It is very rare that a utility the size of TinyTask includes the ability to generate native EXE programs.








* Many of the other new features are located in the Options menu, including "Set Repeat Count", "Show Tips", and new web links.

A quick update was performed for TinyTask.  Version 1.21 includes a few minor fixes, and also changes the icon to a blue circle.  Same download link as above.



The new icon matches the primary feature (recording) and fits the vTask color scheme.  It was previously green to avoid conflicts with another utility (which no longer exists).
